Environmental Studies, Swimmer, Surfer, Mermaid
Liz graduated in 2016 Environmental Studies graduate from The University of Delaware (Go Blue Hens!). She is an aspiring mermaid, and when she's not at the beach, Liz likes to spend her time eating pizza while staring at pictures and videos of whales, dolphins, and anything water related. Her parents threw her in the pool at age 4 and she hasn't stopped swimming since. Swimming has always been a huge part of her life, and, whether it's for recreation or exercise, she just can never seem to get enough.
In 2014, Liz was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to volunteer with sea turtle conservation and work with different underprivileged communities in Costa Rica, where she finally learned to surf. In January of 2015 she headed to Maui, Hawaii to intern with The Ocean Mammal Institute, where she studied the behavior of humpback whales and tried acro yoga for the first time. She literally "fell" in love, and although she ended up with some bumps and bruises, she became obsessed with trying new and fun poses.
In 2016 she was asked back to the same program in Maui with OMI as a Teaching Assistant, where for the month of January she played at being a surfer and yogi while teaching new students about sustainability and inspiring them to take action to protect our oceans.
Being a 22-year-old girl, Liz is obsessed with social media. She loves coming up with witty or funny captions for pictures on Instagram and Facebook and her entire timeline is snapshots of beach bums, surfers, and the ocean. She is so excited to get to work with such determined and motivated individuals at Aqua Vida who are truly dedicated to creating a happier and healthier world. She wants to be able to help others build a connection with our marine environment, instilling in them a sense of responsibility to protect our planet, and she believes that the wave makers at Aqua Vida are doing just that!
